For beginners I would recommend one light pair of weights 5lbs and one heavy set- 12lbs.
For intermediate I would recommend starting with 8lb for light weights and 15-20 for heavy.
For advanced/strong I would recommend 10-12lb for light weights and 20-30lbs for heavy weights.
